What should we wear?

Check out our Fall Portrait Style Board to see some inspiration for your session! I’ve put together examples for families, couples, children, and Other than that advice, you’re welcome to these three tips:

1. Matching can be done tastefully, or in a really dated cheesy way. You’ll notice the style board above focuses on wearing strongly crafted and accessorized outfits for each individual in your family.

2. The best aesthetic image contains three distinct colors. I recommend choosing a two-four color palette with brown and green off of Pinterest and matching those colors with what is already in your closet or in your favorite stores. Yellow is one of my branding colors and works with green and brown backgrounds like Moraine Hills.

3. Props and blankets. Bring blanket to sit down on. There will be a large fallen tree trunk to sit upon for smaller families and some grassy areas to set up a blanket for 10 of your 20 minutes. Grab a coffee or some hot chocolates (i’d recommend Conscious Cup in Crystal Lake as the best coffee in the area, otherwise there is a Starbucks in McHenry) and drink it in the forest on this brisk fall day.

BONUS TIP: If you have busy patterns in your outfits, go for a blanket that is solid colored or simply white to avoid over stimulating the photographs with too many opposing patterns. Alternatively, if your outfits are very much void of a pop color, use your blanket to pop some color in your photographs. Beware that some colored blankets will cast the color onto your face in the photographs. Best to stick to muted color tones and avoid any neon/highlighter toned colors.

This promotion is limited to first come first serve and my books will close on October 10th 2020. Book your session ASAP to ensure your ideal time slot is still available.
